Bent Barley Brewing Company-Brewing the American Dream in Southeast Aurora

In honor of America's birthday, I took the liberty of hunting down the most patriotic, locally owned small business in my home town of Aurora, Colorado. Veteran owned and operated. America manufactured. Colorado fed. Bent Barley Brewing Company is the living embodiment of the American dream. Started by Mark and Paul, and their wives, Gudrun and Betsy, Bent Barley Brewing Company was meticulously planned and grown from a pipeline dream, to a fantastic all-American reality.

Mark proudly served in the US Air Force for 20 years and all the while, he was perfecting his true passion, beer. His hobby soon found company in that of Paul who had a distinct talent for the quintessential IPA. They combined their families and turned their recreational pastime into a full blown pursuit in the beer business. In November of 2018, Bent Barley Brewing Company found its home, in Aurora's own Southlands Shopping Center.

What most impressed me about the brew house itself, was the level of thought and intention that went into every detail. From the Brew System, to the locally sourced snacks, everything was mindfully shipped from within the U.S.A. and, when possible, within Colorado. By doing this, the owners have continuously stimulated the state and US economy and decreased the overall environmental footprint of their company. When it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, Bent Barley is a true patriot. They frequently donate and support veteran outreach programs focusing on helping women and disabled warriors.

Fittingly, these great humans also brew great beer. My personal favorite is the Bent Barley IPA, however the Rye Pale Ale is a close second. Their brew house has a killer patio where you can order your favorite takeout (shout out to Monsoon) and enjoy the beautiful Colorado sunset with a mindfully sourced and created craft beer. I can't think of a better local brew house to support. Bent Barley Brewing uses altruistic brewing practices to make our slice of America a bit sweeter. I would like to extend a massive thank you to Bent Barley Brewing Company for strategically building their business to make our country stronger. And all through the art of beer! Now that is the American Dream. Happy Birthday to the great US of A. If you are drinking this weekend, I urge you to consider Bent Barley. There is no more patriotic way to spend your beer money.
